"CHASKA, Minn. (AP)—Knowing his last remaining challenger was about to make birdie, he chipped in from 60 feet for an eagle. The crowd roared, and he responded with a scream and a fist pump.

Got to be Tiger Woods wrapping up another major.

No, not this time.

Y.E. Yang, a South Korean who didn’t take up the game until he was 19, became the first Asian player to win a major championship Sunday. And he took down Woods in the PGA Championship to do it."

i am not a golfer myself, but i felt it's something for asians to be proud of... same thing when Yao Ming entered the NBA and became one of it's top players! YES, ASIANS can be on the top of the heap of a westerner's game!!!:)

It's about time we broke down the walls of colonialism and inferiority complex that we asians sometimes surround ourselves with! Yes indeed, this is good news :)

Tiger Woods' mother is a Thai (half Thai -half Chinese). Thailand was very quick in offering an honorary citizenship to him. Tiger Wood is also a Buddhist.

Vijay Singh, Fiji born , also defeated Tiger Woods some 5 yrs ago. But that was a brief glory for Singh. Now we dont hear of him anymore.

Asians are coming up in sports as Asians get richer.

Previously, 30 years ago, all Asians except Japanese have no time to play sports. Sports was a luxury then. Therefore, Asians didnt excel in sports. Today, most Asians work 48hrs a week, some 44hrs. Most are working 5.5 days a week, many are working only 5 days.

Now Asians got time to indulge in sports. Look at 2008 Olympics. China is the biggest gold collecter.

But Asians will have a long way to go in heavy weight boxing, long jump and track events. But it will be difficult to beat the Asians in gymnastics, judo and table tennis.

Oh COME ON ! The entire field that made the cut at the end of the 2nd day in the British Open beat him.... :)

heavyweight boxing... yeah... because of size... but dont forget that the top pound for pound boxer is manny pacquiao... an asian!

He left the British Open early, didn't he? Tiger Woods isn't doing very well at all but yes, he's mixed Asian-Black and that created quite a controversy when a certain country club didn't want him to play there.

There are several Koreans, including some Koreans living in the U.S.A. around Orlando, Florida who play quite well at all levels. K.J. Choi has won a tournament or two already.

Anyway, golf was invented in Asia.........no more copyright issues????
