HELP! Nikon D80 vs Fujifilm S5 Pro

definitely the S5. It's way ahead of the D80 in all aspects save writing speeds.

alright guys. uve been a great help. looks like i better go scout around for the s5 pro soon. otherwise it'll be snapped out dry. any recommendations of lens i shd get if i wanna take scenery or basic 18-105vr wld do just fine for starters? im not looking for high end lens. just to meet my needs. scenery and at times human portraitures.

Really would definitely go for the S5 Pro. Just got this baby. Didn't regret it at all.

S5 Pro is a Pro body DSLR and the D80 a semi pro. S5 Pro has better colors, higher dynamic range and better ISO performance.

Mine friend who use a D80 always experience battery problems.

I would recomended you D90 instead of D80

D80 is a semi-pro? I do not think so.

If you want to go for scenery, I would recommend primes instead. Nikkor 20mm 2.8 (since this is hard to find these days, if not 24mm 2.8). Prime lenses give you better results in terms of sharpness and clarity. If you are shooting scenery with fine details, primes would be your best bet. Zoom lenses are surely for starters, because of flexibility. But flexibility comes with the compromise of clarity.

really depends what you want to do...at that price range, the Pentax K20D comes to mind only if you know how to use camera manual settings.

pair it with a 21mm Limited + 70-300 zoom and you are done.

Go for S5pro... remember, it's essentially a D200

If your just starting out, you might wanna consider a 18-200 or the new Tamron 18-270mm for coverage!

oh sorry i just realise those dslr a the same level of D200, D300 and D700 are semi pro.. then D80 , D90 etc.. are prosumer DSLR..

Yes they work well, the mount is the F mount.

Off my mind, you can check for obvious physical defects, sensor inspection for defects and dead pixels, shutter count numbers, check for connections .. Asking for a week or two of personal warranty from seller helps giving you time to check through.
