Try the chendol at Temptation Island at Simpang Bedok. The stall is within a shop selling teochew kway teow mee soup located opposite the Shop N Save supermarket. I like the genuine gula melaka and santan used. Most of my friends whom I recommended liked it.

yea, I go there once in a while :)

Lovely, top-notch gula melaka! ;p

I can't find any in Singapore that is of the traditional kind. The only time I get to savor that is back in Malaysia. Yum.

Go to Tek Kar Market... I like those

i will go and try

but my current fav is at bedok interchange

"hollywood chendol" but now change management already
not as nice but still the best so far
My fav too... used to eat it all the time... for those who like it sweet, try Chatterbox Sago Melaka..

ever tried the Chendol in a small alley along Penang Rd in Penang?

years back... it used to be super shiok. but of late... i think standard dropped a bit although still shiok lah.

Are you referring to the one in Malacca?

Yummeeeh!

there and almost at anumber of places in Malaysia if you know where to look or have relative to bring you about. It is the simplest of dessert to make. I am not talking those adulterated ones you see many here and "claim" to be the best with tons of add-on stuff. The traditional chendol is just hand rub ice shaving into a small aluminum bowl which is 1/3 full of the green wormy jelly and the yummy gula melaka syrup and milk dunk over the ice shaving. ...melting half of it and that is all..it is Chendol old school. Not even red bean is inside it. The closest I got to that is down stair my own home at a Malay dessert stall at the market/hawker stall ( Eunos MRT) which is pretty close but still...problem is she kept the green jelly thingy so frozen it is sometime hard as it has yet to thaw when she mix up a bowl....The Malaysian one..by the road side ....SHOIK and the one I love the most is in Seremban Town near the telecom station. That is a trip worth making I tell ya. Everyday I am there, a trip there for at least 2 bowl is a must.
Directions.. directions please! It's not good for the heart but heck for a good Chendol I'll give it a good wallup.

Making a trip to Malacca and then to Seremban ending and staying at Avillion Port Dickson towards month end.

i happened to know part of the recipe of that stall during the previous owner time. its sounds horrid how they can create the texture by adding stuff. but i still ate from that stall wif my buddy cos they are still the best at that interchange - probably even until now.

wah...not sure of the road name...might vae to contact my cousin about it. It is near a Nasional Telecom relay station that runs parallel with the Seremban Park which has a large pond. It is just at the small strip of land by the road at the junction. This is basically in the heart of Seremban town. Have to go dig up a photo to scan if wanna show you as it was a long time ago I shot it with a non DSLR heheheh.... But this indian guy doing this has always been there since way back.

Ok, seems simple enough... City Centre near Telekom Station by a Park with large pond. I'll seek it out, will ask cabbie when there, thanks for the directions.

No need to trouble yourself to digging up past photosm plan to put on some kilos :bheart:

A bit of OT, any tip on good halal seafood either at or near Port Dickson or Seremban?

Port Dickson...almost anywhere... just avoid the big sign commercial ones. I have eaten in quite a few and they are like kampung house...very informal near the beach and like simple rust table and chairs...but the food!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

In Sermeban...forget it. Seafood would be cheaper and fresher if you eat in Port Dickson. When I stay in Seremban at my Relative place...to eat seafood we drive like 50km to the beach near Sepang to eat...again it is like Port Dickson...you look for some house or something and it is not that well known to outsider...and next thing you know..you are putting on weight eating like a pig heheheheh...

If you are not sure and taking taxi...I would advice...come back to Singapore to eat. Our Seafood in East Coast may be pricey but..they are usually way better then most in Malaysia....unless they are local dishes indigenous to them and you know what to find them! Where my relatives bring me...it is like going on a treasure hunt..it is like going to all the off the beaten track non-tourist places.
