Would want to bring a special someone to stargaze, any recommendations? We're driving so practically anywhere is possible, just without mozzies and stray dogs will do :D

Thanks in advance!

Err..... with S'pore so well lighted at Night, the 'light pollution' would have made StarGazing near impossible. The East Coast of Malaysia or island like Toman/Aur/Perhentain would be a better choice.

Check out the problem of 'Light Pollution' on National Geographic Magazine, Nov 2008 issue.

Eh, we are not pro star-gazers, just want to spend some time outdoor gazing at the sky and stars. :)

clear sky at ECP

Seletar airbase? There's a nice bbq place to eat too ;p

Sunset Grill and Pub
140B Piccadilly, Seletar Airbase
(from Piccadilly, turn into Lambeth Walk, Hampstead Gardens, Western Ave, into East Camp, all the way to Singapore Flying Club)
Tel: 64820244
4pm to 10pm; closed on Tuesdays

Ubin would be a good place. 1stly its dark, 2ndly u can charter a bumboat.

When I was Scuba Diving in Perhentain, on the East Coast of Malaysia..... you could see the milky way with your naked eye. The same could be said when I was in the Navy and we were out at the South China Sea.

On mainland S'pore..... the best you could hope for is 10-20 star like object in the sky.....

In the middle of Tangah Airbase run way. Very nice place to do star gazing cos the surrounding is so dark at nite. OPppss !!!! ... restricted area. provided u can go in or work there ... lolx

Climb onto top of mrt East West train. You will get to see stars from side to side of singapore within 45min. Heard there is a certain tree along red hill you can leap off and hop onto the train top. Indiana Jones did it, Tom cruise did it, nothing is impossible.

For vast piece of space, changi airport run way is best. Not only you get to see stars, you see aeroplane driving pass both of you. veeeee.....roooom

Both suggests above are free, but at your own risk. Welcome to kopitiam.

the only places i see stars in singapore is the... saf training grounds aha. tekong is one nice place for stars, comes with free ghastly thrills :bsmilie:, and mandai .66, one of the setup point for signal. =x

I think the only place you can really count on to see stars will be on the border of the international waters. Rent a yacht?

Sure or not ? I believe u will be busy in some other thing else....stargaze ..LOL

Dude, do consider the Singapore Science Center.

You can go to the restaurant at the omni theatre building for dinner. After that visit the observatory beside. Admission is free. The observatory is open every friday from 8pm - 10pm.

Weather during this time of the year is not good for stargazing. If weather is bad you can still go take a look at the big 40cm classical cassegrain telescope housed there. Or take a walk to jurong east central for a movie.

jurong east central closed down for renovations, open again next yr end :)

Hey guys thanks a bunch for the recommendations :)

Indeed it's very cloudy these days for star gazing.. We didn't do it in the end, instead we've done more wonderful stuffs  :)
