Can go stay at ritz carlton or mandarin oriental and see also nice ma ;)

BTW, which one will have a better view?
ritz carlton, as it is directly behind the grandstand and it has a better viewing angle. And of course it is taller too!

Bros,

Got from the SPF website... For your information.

Security and Traffic Arrangements for Singapore Fireworks Celebration 2008

The Singapore Fireworks Celebration 2008 will be held at the Marina Bay floating platform on 22 and 23 August 2008 (Friday & Saturday) from 5pm till 11pm. Large crowds and heavy vehicular traffic are expected around the Marina Bay area during the event.

Security Arrangements

Members of the public are advised to look after their belongings especially when they are in crowded places. For safety and security reasons, bags and personal items may be subjected to checks by the Police. Members of the public are advised to co-operate with the Police to facilitate the checks. They should also notify the Police of any suspicious items or persons.

As large crowds are expected to gather at Esplanade Bridge , Esplanade Waterfront Promenade and Merlion Park , event security officers will be regulating the number of persons allowed into these areas for safety reasons.

In view of the large expected turnout, members of the public are advised to be patient and follow the instructions of the event security officers and traffic marshals during dispersal. Heavy congestion is expected at City Hall MRT Station and members of the public are advised to make use of Raffles Place MRT Station and other public transport alternatives to leave the area.

Traffic Arrangements

One carriageway of Temasek Avenue (towards the direction of Raffles Avenue ) between Raffles Boulevard and Raffles Avenue will be closed from 9pm to 10 pm each night (22-23 Aug 08) to facilitate and regulate the flow of human and vehicular traffic.

Traffic congestion is expected at the event venue and its peripheral roads. Motorists are advised to avoid the affected area, plan their journey in advance or make use of public transport if they are proceeding to the Marina Bay area.

Traffic marshals will be deployed at all affected road junctions to regulate traffic and facilitate pedestrian crossings along the routes. Summon actions will be taken against the owners of vehicles that are found parking illegally or causing obstruction. Such vehicles will also be towed away.

Motorists are advised against stopping on the ECP ( Benjamin Sheares Bridge ) during the fireworks display. Apart from causing congestion, indiscriminate stopping of vehicles along the bridge is also irresponsible and dangerous. To ensure the safety of other motorists, event security officers will not hesitate to take enforcement action against errant motorists.

Traffic Police will be providing regular updates to keep motorists informed of the traffic situation via EMAS advisory notices and TrafficWatch. Members of public may contact the organiser’s hotline at 6220 8180 for any enquiries.

Any other areas where we can shoot the fireworks ?

Initially I was thinking of the usual place behind NTUC building for tonight's shoot, but just "found out that a whole bulk of the area has been cordoned off for contruction already.

So are there any other places to take ?I have in mind the steps in front of the old supreme court, but have not tried taking fireworks from there be4.

There are some trees in between the supreme court and the platforms.. you may not be able to see those fireworks which is "not so tall".

Raining today . . . Must b damn smokey like the NDP 08.

I would like to apologise for my double post, I thought I was just editing my previous post, but didn't realised it will be a new post altogether...

That's what I think too, but if I rush down to NTUC building after my work, it will be just as bad with all the heads sticking out in front of me. That's one experience I got during last year's NDP parade...

heavy rain now

maybe fireworks cannot fire

hi, anyone knows where is the entrance to the floating platform? I have tickets for tonight.
However, can I go in after 8pm although i think the gate opens at 1730hrs? Thank you.

Did anyone try staying on Benjamin Sheares Bridge? Were the police there chasing people away?

nice fireworks tonight hope tml's 1 will be more gd =)

yup.. it was a good one.. lucky the rain stopped...

The fireworks was good, but too much smoke, maybe due to the rain ...

I advise you all not try it because I got chased away by police.

Was at the celebrations today. I caught something unusual in some of my pics.

Snoweagle,
dont just show us this face , please share the picture so that we can all  with you.

Just wanna ask how did you setup your tripod and cams there? Because you have to seat down at your assigned seats, right?
I have tickets for this Friday, want to know if I should bring tripod or not.

Just to confirm again, so we can bring tripods in? And also did they regulate your movement in the floating platform?
