Pricing seems to be around US2999, from the reports.

Rather than comparing with the 5D, I would rather hope the D700 is value for what it's going to cost.

dont think its competing with 5D, 5D is too old. should only compare when the new 5D replacement comes out.
i think more relevant would be how it would give the D300 and D3 a run... no so much the 5D or even the well speculated 5DmkII...

Think the list for 14-24 f2.8 and 24-70 f2.8 will get even longer... I guess most will prefer FF lense for FF body...
