1. rangefinders? you thinking of doing film photography? while rangefinders are indeed the staple for street photography due to their quiet operation and inconspicuous size. if you are thinking of a digital rangefinder, the only one i've heard of so far is the leica m8, and it's not cheap. depends on what you mean by affordable too.

2. i highly recommend scott kelby's 'photoshop cs3 for digital photographers' (that is, if you are a cs3 user. there's also the cs2 version, i think).

3. well, it's not really the gender that determines the style or genre. pornography has got plenty of pictures of women too. :think:

Welcome to Clubsnap. I hope you have a pleasent time here.

I don't have much experience with the last two topics so I'll stick to the first one.

Argubly, street photography is better done with a small rangefinder and lens rather then a hulking DSLR with zoom. Which would you prefer sticking into your face as you walk down the street to pick up some groceries? Film rangefinders are dirt cheap especially if you know what to get. Russian stuff are cheap, so are japanese fixed lens types. If you want to buy new, go for Voigtlander Bessa cameras, best in the game for their price to performance ratio. Further up the ladder is the Zeiss Ikon and finally the granddaddy of all, the Leica. Choose your camera and start shooting.

How should I start film photography? Should I just take the camera, buy some films and start shooting or should I go to a library and do some research first?
