Hello all,

I was up at 6.30am with a friend to try and catch some sunrise shots at Changi point. Got a bit put off by the wall of clouds on the horizon. Totally overcast sky. Sian by half liao... thought of giving up and go queue for nasi lemak...

As the sun peeked through the clouds, I thought it might make a nice shot so I started snapping. But I sort of felt that the shots were a bit pointless, lifeless even, until this guy walked right into the sunrise!

Thank goodness for fishermen. The other group of people obsessed enough to go through unearthly hours for their pastime.

I think it is quite a nice shot, but I'd welcome your critiques and comments that would improve the shot.

Thanks in advance!

agree with you that the fisherman makes the subject more interesting. the exposure is just right to capture the silhouette and the clouds colour.
everything is a little too dead center, try off setting the fisherman to the right so that he is looking into the horizon.

nice mood.. but more sky = good.. the bright part is like very oddly placed in the frame now.. (i guess you were limited by your hardware?! ^_^)

and yup.. shift to the right will be good too.. the man's too dead centre..

beautiful...i actually said the word out loud when i saw it. great stuff. kudos man.

i dont agree the man is too dead centre...if u look carefully he is slightly off plus his position doesnt distract me.

i like where the highlights are. it seems to me as if the fisherman is being spotlit by the sun. cool effect.

one suggestion, maybe you go move in closer go lower so that the fisherman appears larger in the photo.

im a part time fisherman too. haha night time is the best to fish...

Thank you guys, for the critique and kind words.

agree; maybe some cropping might work
although the fisherman is what makes the picture work, i would like to see more of what he does, if possible. it might have been nicer if there was a fishing rod, or a boat or some even another person standing with him, if possible

but overall, its a nice photo

Thanks 2.8. Was kancheong when taking this photo. If got another opportunity next time, will consider a closer shot...
