which is exactly why they do have mods here who are in the best position to decide if a posting if really way OT or irrelevant to the forum. if indeed something is amiss, let them act in their neutral & official capacity.

as far as users who do not have the *Moderator* tag attached to their nicks, the best recourse is to really leave these "zero intellect" threads alone and move on to whatever else floats their boat....fair to all that way. Surely there must be other better places where you can showcase your intellect far more productively...!?? :dunno:

i came to this thread cos i do have this smudging problem. Its not a big issue but nevertheless i was curious about what other people had about it. instead i find a thread full of unwarranted cynicism. sigh.

anyway for anyone STILL interested in the original question: I have the problem of smudging my sun glasses when using my slr. My sunglasses are the oakley wraparound type, so the frame is quite large. so what happens is that my right hand would usually apply pressure to the spec's frame, and the top of my eyelid would leave a resulting smudge.

just because a problem is minor does not make it an INVALID QUESTION. whats the big deal about asking simple questions? isnt that the point of an internet forum so that knowledge can be shared? trivial or not?

simple, minor.. i will not leave out boh liao as part of the magic equation to make my point. for a more general case - you could say that one is much more inclined to help out a person who is genuinely interested and is asking the right questions. so i assume, that if someone starts a thread asking how to spray paint his dslr pink to attract more girls and how to paste hello kitty sticker all over it.. you will be 100% tolerant and supportive.

always amusing to see people slap themselves in the face within ONE single post.

honestly i wouldnt mind that question. anybody is free to ask what they want. if it annoys you why dont you just IGNORE it instead of unloading all your irrelavant and unwanted angst on everyone?

there is no angst, there is only a hope and vision that clubsnap would turn into a much more mature community where we can all live together in harmony, peace and enjoyment - along with the perfect state of open-mindedness where we can accept valid points in stride, even they may be blunt and scathing. and i do not see how inane questions are going to help any. with every passing day that such goes unchecked - i have not bothered commenting on this issue for really long.. we turn into the likes of stomp and hwz. when that happens, i expect that many members will be turned off (me included) and just leave for greener pastures. the bigger picture, the bigger picture.

the most amusing part is that i have clarified quite a number of posts back that i have apologised to the ts through pm - although of course i do not deny that i still express the opinion that the question is in short, a silly one. i simply refuse to take back my opinion of someone else's ideas, but i am more than happy to apologise for having misestimated his character in the sense that i thought he was trying to create another weird question thread for the sake of his own personal enjoyment.

true. but what is silly to you might not be silly to others. part of being a mature community is to accept that there are other who are not quite so experienced and be ready to accomodate these noobs right?

take the discussion to kopitiam, i have started a new thread there for all interested to discuss the matter, since after all, we want to be mature. in which case, there is a right time and place for everything.

there is acceptance, and there IS acceptance. to embrace acceptance as an wholly abstract concept where there are no boundaries drawn is simply wrong to me. why can we accept manslaughter as being different from murder, in the eyes of the law? they are after all, in true essence, the same thing - one man killed another. why should the reaction/punishment be any different?

tolerance & good spirit are important virtues in a community like CS...and honestly no one is indispensable to the forum....there will be many other very good photographer bros who will still hang in there and offer their pearls of wisdom to those who seek learning. So by all means...if greener pastures beckon, then fly away oh wise ones...we dont really see or hear thick chains tied on to anyone restraining you back.
