when someone ask me to shoot with passion, the real meaning is ask me to shoot for free or dirt cheap.passion for $ lor.:bsmilie:
Please can you kindly clarify what you so strongly assert?
My understanding of "commercial", and in this case "commercial photography", is that the prime motivation of commercial transactions is profit. Is my understanding wrong? What is the accepted understanding of a commercial product? What is the meaning of COMMERCIAL, as asked by Mr garou12?
I did not at all imply that there is no creativity involved in commercial photography. But the prime objective of commercial photography is to maximise financial returns.
In what way is this misguided? And "damn misguided"?
Why is everyone so worried about terminology? you get all defined by the definitions and restrictions you place upon yourself.
so what is "fine art" photography
a bunch of black and white prints of landscapes and nudes?
I see an interesting mixture of people here.
Question: "So you do photography for passion?"
Photographer A: " No, i do it for money. Passion = Money. "
Photographer B: "Yes, i would strave just to take photos."
Photographer C: "Its my passion, but i got to dam earn a living too!"

that's nothing wrong with that, if somebody can feed the photographers, like daddy or mummy, sugar or real one, else you have to take to dead people about "pure" passion for photography.I see an interesting mixture of people here.

I have to agree with you guys that commercialisation is needed to keep the ricebowl on the table but it has limitations to it (according to market demand).
So where do all the artsy people go to?
Maybe we can have a graveyard gathering someday.
Another strong-willed and gusty idealistic one attempting to reshape the world of photography... sigh.. won't you people just give up? You obviously have no clue how commercial photography works out and neither does the faculty of business teach you that.
hello,LOL @ "Starving led to death, kind of hard to shoot when dead."
I think i should be looking for dead photographers at graveyards instead of forums.

it doesnt mean people who put priority on getting food on table has no artistical talents what...
They do, in fact there are many talented commercial photographers out there, but don't they feel limited by their client needs instead of theirs?
