New to Camera =)

I am very excited by chance when i came into this forum.

The photos taken by people really taken my breathe away.

I wanted to own a camera since young but was repeatedly rejected by my parents =(

Now i have started working, i feel i should start capturing little moments in life!
Memories in me which was slowly fading away could be stored somewhere now..



I gonna start from somewhere!

Objective : An All-rounder camera. Day or Night produces spendid shots.
Budget: 400 -600
Size : I think this belongs to Prosumer series? SLR are too big in nature. Compact perfered
Function : Image stabilizer, ISO.. erm i am still doing tons of reading about all these term applying in camera.

I did my own research on camera as well

Fuji Finepix F50fd ( Feedback that ppl still perfer F30fd which is rare now)
Canon 850IS (IXUS Series)
CASIO EXILIM EX-Z1080
OLYMPUS MJU 820

These are the camera that fits my objective but i am uncertain about their PROS and CONS..

Would really be grateful if experts or current user share with me their experience, better than i ask the salesman who tell me everything is good! Lol..


I am attracted to macro photoing too. I know i could be expecting too much from a intermediate camera.. but best if it could perform the function too!

Fuji famous for the sensor low noise i heard. For canon the colour and certain extra function like pano stich is nice.

You'll be surprised that quite a lot pns have 0cm focusing distance for macro.

Like bahibo had said, Canon's sensor produced warmer colors and surprisingly the pano stitch works better than most programs out there. Fuji's low noise in low light shots are well-known due to their arrangement of the sensors which is more sensitive. Well, you could go to www.dpreview.com to get a in depth specs about these 2 cameras.

hmm, i bought me fuji A820 at $299.

now it retails for $230.

its a no frills compact that produces very good results (at the wide end. the tele is so-so).

one thing about "image stabilization", learn to hold a camera properly.

the way i see some ppl hold their camera, IS, VR, OS or watever is not going to help.

It just holding the camera proper right?

Is there special things that need to take note?

Regards to kruger : So macro image is almost "impossible" or worth to try at least because i havnt seen any result from any of the camera i have mention in macro .

to me, shooting a photo is like shooting a rifle.

when u shoot a rifle, u anticipate the recoil and "follow through".

although compact dun ve a mirror like a SLR (which flap and cause vibration), trying to be as still and stable as possible during the exposure is still important.

since most modern compact are w/o a view finder (even those with a viewfinder, most ppl use the live view anyway), i ve seen many ppl, w their hands outstretched, above their head, moving the camera in a sweeping motion to compose and pressing the shutter in the process.
