ya lor. Actually all the specs were out long ago. Only the price was not confirmed.

Really hoping that it will be a 40D pricing rather than a D300 pricing..... If they want to compete at D300 level, at least have an improved live view.

no matter what i would gave this E3 a very
personally think olympus had made a big leap for the past 1 yr.
9 points the twin/double cross sensors is no slouch and work ay all aperture range...just this feature alone is already very impressive:D

Now it seems like E-3 is equipped with a totally new upgraded system. New lens and flash to complement the new pro model.

Does it make sense for new adopter, eg. from Nikon side to jump in.
Yet on paper, E-3 seems ordinary compared to competitors.

If it means anything, the E-1 was deemed quite ordinary in specifications in 2003 but it turned out to be much more than what it seemed on paper.

Anyone who wants to jump will be nervous but I think they'll be surprised at how good it will be. I was expecting more and I believe the insistence on Live View added to the price in a way that won't be helpful to the majority of E-3 users. It might gain Olympus quite a few takers who wouldn't use their cameras otherwise, though.

I agree, apart from the specs, Oly's insistence in perfecting the "soft" side of the E-3(ergonomics, 100% viewfinder and even shutter sound) would make it stand out. This is mainly what makes olympus users love their equipment.

yup, Sony A700 only 1 twin cross sensor at centre only. The 5 EV steps IS claim is a bit aggressive though.

So when the people get them, and test the IS to see if they live up to their hype,we will know for sure if it's agreesive or true

Just pass me the E-3, I'm very aggressive with my testing. :p

Anyone have an idea of the price in Singapore.
Very excited about it.

Damm.. reading this thread only makes me more poisoned to get the E3... ARG!!! :bsmilie:

USD$1699 = S$2480+ ? (body only)

Street prices should be lower.

I feel that the price is too near the D300. Shouldn't it be around 40D don't you think so?

agree...
gotten from some place... prices of the new lens(in USD)
14-35 $2300
12-60 $1000
50-200 $1200
70-300 $480

if thats true... the older 50-200 lens px gonna drop pretty soon....

The camera will be 'more attractive' if externally it has a 3.0" or 3.5" LCD screen with 920K pixel. :sweatsm:

Having just a 2.5" 230K pixel LCD screen is like so yester-year... only thing is tat it articulates out...

If I can only choose one, I rather have a tilt and swivel 2.5" 230K LCD rather than a fixed 3" 920K one.

heh, personally, i feel that i'd rather pay that much more for the assurance that oly didn't have to cut any corners to compete with the 40D.

i'm not into comparing the specs, but i really think that its a good price to pay for a fully splash and dust proof pro body.

3" articulating lcd at the expense of a smaller body, ergonomics and a 810g body? no thanks. 2.5" articulating lcd for me thank you.

The more I read, the more I'm convinced that they could have created a plastic body, called it the E-810, priced it accordingly, and worked on the real E-3.

This camera really has to be more than the sum of its parts because it's sounding like something great for 2005 or maybe even 2006, but a lot has happened since then. I'm not saying that I won't buy it, but I'm not as enthusiastic about the camera as the breakthrough it's supposed to be.

Maybe, that will all change when I see the photos from it.

Such a nice camera. It might not be the top spec but it is a lot more than good enough.
