NOT GIVING UP
Here's one you'll like Liverpool fans - Rafa Benitez has apparently not given up his pursuit of Gabriel Heinze, despite only signing for Real Madrid in August.

You'll all be familiar with the shenanigans between Liverpool and ManYoo over the summer, which eventually led to Madrid buying Heinze for £9million.

However, The News Of The World now reckons that Liverpool 'already have the feelers out' to see if Heinze can be tempted back to England.

Heinze has made a decent start for Real this season, playing at both left-back and centre-half, and his family is understood to have settled well in the Spanish capital, so this particular chase looks unlikely to succeed.

:) so gabriel heinze isn't likely to join LIVERPOOL afterall.:bsmilie:

TORRES INJURY UPDATE

Fernando Torres will undergo intensive treatment at Melwood this week in a bid to be fit for Saturday's Merseyside derby.
The Spanish striker missed his country's Euro 2008 qualifier in Denmark over the weekend with a thigh problem and is now back in Liverpool working with the Reds' medical team.

"Fernando was assessed by the club's medical staff this morning and underwent a scan which confirmed an adductor injury," said club spokesman Ian Cotton.

"He will now undergo intensive treatment at Melwood."

let's hope he'll b fine! :)

Torres hopeful of being fit for Merseyside derby

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is confident he will be fit for Saturday's Merseyside derby clash with Everton.

Torres suffered a thigh injury in training with Spain last week and was initially expected to be out for eight to 10 days, but the former Atletico Madrid man is determined to make his derby debut.

'I intend to be fit for the Everton game on Saturday. I don't want to miss out on the derby, because it is such an important game,' the Reds' club-record signing told The Mirror.

Torres is now undergoing fitness work at Liverpool's Melwood training headquarters in a bid to be fit to face the Toffees.
