Who is learning driving now?

Before you want to buy a car, please read this useful and important link. It is expensive to drive in SG. If no $, it is recommend to get an OPC, rent a car or sharing car program.

I know it is very expensive to drive in local. Unless you earn a lot (4k after CPF) n also, u need it, then get one else can forget abt it.

Me targetting old cars but work out in the end, ard the same as a OPC. Furthermore my work place quite near, I drive also don't gain much experience. I am thinking of renting a car for 2 days in a roll once per mth for practise purpose as in case I can own a car, at least my skill still there. I just drive to those remote area for practise as to get experience.

Will decide how, wait for my right foot (left foot healed) heals first before drives again.

I went to search for car rental n most of them, don't allow P-plate drivers to rent. I know, we might lack of experience but if we don't drive, after a year, we go to rent, might also ended up in accident. :bsmilie:

Saw less than 5 car rental allow P-plate n one of them, in the west. :think: Thinking of renting one as I going to west coast area tomorrow n on top of that, I know that route well. But driving alone plus parking, might not stable yet, ha ha! :bsmilie: If got it in the morning, must return by evening as I wouldn't be using it after 6pm but I will be charge for a day rate. :bheart:

Got to think wisely n max the rented car. Also got to put in consideration that I need to pump back petrol before returning.

Try to get your friend who has driving experience to guide and assist you when you are driving. Remember to place a P-plate sign.

Yup, most car rental companies don't allow new driver to rent car, partly is because of driving experiences and insurance stuff, even car sharing scheme also requires minimum of 3 years of driving experience before you are allowed to sign up that scheme.

That's one the reason why I ended up bought a car myself when I got my license. I collected my car less than 2 months after my driving test, never drive in between the period other than used my brother's car to learn how to go into a multi-storey carpark and how to do reverse parking in 45 degree angle. Also never go up in a highway before!

The next thing I know after I collect my car is that I was driving all alone by myself for the very first time in a brand new car, drive up into a highway during peak hours, pump petrol for the very first time and drove home all alone for the very first time.

However, due to poor parking skill, scatched my car just on the second day while try to reverse park after work. It was damn heartache man!!! :cry:

One tip. Pray not to get route 5 at BBDC. I failed, so does another girl who under the same tester.

Reason is simple, he kind of late on asking u to lane change (after traffic light) but i did saw ppl lane change before traffic. So, imagine the distance you going to lane change if u got a lot of cars blocking u on the left.

another way to gurantee a pass would be to practice your skills, clear the circuit with no demerit points first.. and go out.. of course. driving skills must be good... and when it comes to raining days... the passing rate is generally higher... both me and my friend all passed in rainy days.. of course we also got skill one la.. :sweat::sweat:

Rainy day might not be easy to pass during circuit as I heard from one instructor that during a rainy day, all fail due to mount kerb in circuit.

Every one wish to have good pts in circuit but sometime, u just can't do the circuit well maybe due to some reasons. First time, my circuit quite good but not the second. But my test route is easier to drive as compare to first test. Anyway, it is the luck that every one seeks on that day lor.

But one thing, during peak season, if I want to rent a car, I only got 3A, I sure hardly can get a chance. If I own a 3C, I can drive manual but provided my skill still there. ;p

So, from now onwards, I will rent a car for 2 days in a roll (manual mostly) per mth. When CNY comes, I no scare of traffic, no scare no car to drive ard. (Old customer by that time.) Since my brother side is going to have a huge family soon (twin plus one from current, total = 5 n one more maid!), I think I better drive my own n ferry my mum. ;p

Starting next wk, time to drive all by myself! Anyone dare to sit in my car? :sweat: :bsmilie:

Try to master
- smooth ride in the carpark ( use 1/2 clutch technique )
- move off from slope esp. at the shopping centre basement park ( Eastpoint )
- parking in the carpark
- lane change
- overcome road fear ( practise more )

I remember my first drive alone is driving to Tuas on a quiet weekend. Driving alone for the first time is a thrill... Unfortunately that is where i get the first scratch from gravels rocks on my 2 month old car. Ouch ! :sweat:

I will prefer to rent a manual car when driving in malaysia / thai , though sometimes it is more difficult to get one. Auto seem more common.

From Bt Timah back to Bt batok, shouldn't be much of a problem. Wouldn't be going on the express way and hopes the road wasn't pack with cars. Slowly drive at most, stick to 50 to 60km/h most of the time. But also depend on road infront, if not cars, got to acc more.

megaweb. True, need to practise a lot on those you mentioned. Maybe go to those remote area in LCK for slope practise as my friend slope moving off is ard there. Will drive ard and see how I fair in the end lor. Hope in a piece still.

Can stall is good.. If get into an accident at least the car will stop. Auto will just go on and on... ;p

Yah... I came out of the circuit with no points.. The tester cut short the route and here I meet with the $+up!d traffic light which I don't understand the sequence and I got IF instead.. I might have passed if he did not cut short the route.. hahaha.. ;p

Think I'll have to shelf my plan for buying a car already. Company just announced they will be shifting operations to Beijing to be nearer a key customer.
