that new nano....

i prefer to call it the "New Fatty nono" :nono::nono:

chubby design
time to head out to my apple store to check them out in person.

Alongside the full-sized iPods, they look fine. I reacted badly to the full-sized video versions because they were wide and overall outsized. They won't be in stores until Saturday supposedly and Steve Jobs didn't mention anything about U.S.A. so whether they'll be available quickly everywhere, who knows?

Is Zune popular???

I believe they've sold more than 10,000 now. Then again, iPods sell at a rate of about 10 million per quarter year.

and 8GB is not very big

If you put the iPod touch up against the Palm Tungsten T|X PDA, the deal is definitely on the Apple side. The T|X offers WiFi, Bluetooth, 3rd party applications and 128 MB, most of which is available for the user, for US$299. The 16GB iPod Touch has WiFi and Web 2.0-based applications and a great music player and the multi-touch technology for US$399.

It's really not a bad deal.

I was in IT fair last weekend, Creative had showcased a new product, credit card size mp3 player, and the screen is TFT screen and show like 16million colors.. much better than Ipod, and can insert with SD card for storage.. i checked it and use it to view photo..and u can even zoom 1 x times.. photo in Ipod had actually been resized..

I was quite impressed, and learn new knowledge like screen resolution, i realise the comparison like my nokia 6288 vs nokia 6300, i had been wondering why 6300 screen seems very eye catching..now i realise it is also those TFT screen..

The expanded-longitudinally design is not very appealing. But for the price its quite a good deal. I'm still surviving on my 1GB 1st Generation Nano though (cost me $246 #@&^$Q%!!!) so have to wait a while before investing again. Then again I'd rather use the money on new lenses, :D

Its US$149 for 4GB and US$199 for 8GB (limited period) according to the site, so...S$227? and S$303 respectively.

16gb only... how come liddat... 40 or 60 still can consider. wahhh.

Solid state memory chip is the direction Apple is taking now and for the forseeable future mah. I will only buy it if it has the option for me to insert memory modules too if not..it is just not worth buying. I would not mind the Classic till then.

But given a choice to get the Ipod Touch or the Iphone...I think I will get the ipod touch and perish the thought of getting that phone. I am just wondering if it will effect sales of the phone and maybe...just maybe..the reason the ipod touch only comes with a maximum of 16g is to ensure it does not cannibalise the iphone selling potential. I for one like to still have a separate phone and mp3 player.

not cool already, no point

i wonder if the storage can be user replaced

you mean from 16g replace it with a micro hdd of 160 g? heheh if can then I will buy one heheheh....I doubt it...solid state memory modules takes up less space and voltage to run so I doubt it can be done without change a number of hardware and maybe look for more space to do it in the ipod touch.

Exactly. It can't be done without a re-design. Easier to go the other way.

The old iPod mini took a CompactFlash card with an IBM/Hitachi MicroDrive in it, so it could probably be updated with a 4 GB card. I'm not sure about bigger cards because of the formatting. The Mac HFS+ file system formats up to 10 Terabytes but the FAT32 file system supports to 4 Gigabytes, right?

it is an iphone without the phone bits

can pretent to make phone calls and no one will know, hee hee :)

Sorry to blow your bubble...the thickness of the Iphone is noticebly thicker and the rim of the Iphone is silvery. So dun pretend to make a call with Ipod Touch......people will think you "seow lang":bsmilie:

OK..WTS: Ipod Video Black 30GB, less than 1 year old. Rarely used and definitely not for jogging so hard disk is in good shape. Comes with box and original headphones (untouched).

SGD320

16GB model.... IMO it's just the iphone without the phone.

You're right there. There have been so many terrible user response about the iphone. Guess they're trying to make up for it. I personally won't get the new model. The old models are more than enough to meet my expectations. :)
