from movies like Kundun and Seven Years in Tibet (although they are not entirely representative of Tibet's long and rich history), one would hardly disagree that indigenous Tibetan culture is something worth preserving.

Ya, I just came back from tibet, and as long as any tibetan high lama plan to meet oversea visitors, they will be "accompanied" by police all the way. I've also heard from long term practioner that some "monks" in those temple are actually from the government, to "monitor" all activities that takes place within the monastry...How much worse can this get for a country that proclaims "religion freedom" in today's society.:thumbsd:

How stupid can they be?

They didn't want international commerce. It's there. They didn't want capitalism, but people are making money and buying things.

They aren't 100 % in control, even though they want it that way.

Nothing new.. Similar thing happened with Roman Catholicism there. That's why there is a government endorsed church and another underground church.
