I think drink driving punishment is too light. Should increase to 20 years jail term, confiscate car, 12 wip of canes, forfeit driving license for 40 years.

even this amount is too light as it involves human lifes ...

Agree! more so because he hit motorbike! ;(

Anyone remember how Terence Cao was punished for drink-driving?

For him to pass time and to take up photog.

Dont be suprise if a Chris Lee ask should he get a D2x or 1 D Mk 3 for newbie. :bsmilie:

From what i know, Chris Lee is an avid photographer too. He whipped a DSLR to shoot some street photos while he was filming in Brazil.

maybe iceman will buddy-buddy with the 25 year old ugly photographer! :bsmilie:

once u are in the car driver seat, yr status is a licenced driver under laws of LTA and Traffic Police. Celebrity or whatever... is just your personal thing.

Who is the King of the Road !? the Man in White Helment and Black Boots ! u understand or not !?

There seems to be a double standard for expats and locals.

I said earlier that no one is above the law, apparently there are some that are more privileged than others.

Last time I check Christopher is local. I didn't know he left the scene of an accident where someone was hurt. It is not going to be good for him, he's up sh#t creek without a paddle.

really? I cant remember. then its a hit & run! Enough to get a jail term.
But I think due to his status, its just suspension & community service.
Maybe be even the judge also his fan. [Disclaimer: this is just a joke, don't sue me]

I believe he will admit liability for drink driving and will certainly be fined and have his licence suspended as this is his first offence. Contrary to media reports, he didn't drive away from the scene but moved his vehicle a few meters before stopping. I believe his legal team will claim trial on this issue to avoid a possible custodial sentence.

There's no such thing as equal between the rich and the poor, local and expets.

If you're rich you can hire the best lawyer to defand you and in court the truth depands on how your lawyer present "your version of the truth".

If you're an expet, better still. Automitically the cops belive your side of the story more over the local guy.

If I remember correctly, some time back a underage girl w/o a driving license, hit someone and speed home. The mother went to the police and laied that it she's the one who's driving. Later police found out the truth. What happen? the family got a senior lawyer to fight the case, the school support her and she got off with a slap on the wrist, just a fine and probation. And the mother? Nothing.

It's not a hit and run? But it was reported in the papers a few times that it was a hit and run. It was reported that he left the scene and was BOUGHT BACK TO THE SCENE by the police where he was given a breath test. Media Corp and ST are now buddy buddy again, so if not hit and run they sure will correct it. As you said, " Contrary to media reports...." so how did you get this inside info?

 Correct. Society is never fair.

Only thing is fair is we all only got 24 hrs a day to spend in our lifetime

Think it would be sad to know that with the right amount of $$$ you can get away with a light sentence regardless of who or how well known you are. Pity those who have not much of a choice but to defend themselves in court and end up probably losing their freedom in a matter of hours.

As for the diversion of bringing Fann into the discussion, I think it would be fair to leave her out of it as that is after all their personal lives and we have should not go into that area. Honestly I'm not a fan of both of them right from the start but I think the discussion should be on the main issue on what chances would be given to people of different status, rather than who will need that caring support when anything happens.

christopher got a senior counsel. that help a LOT. it all depend on how many and which charge the TP & AG proceed with.

yes. we should not talk about people not related to this issue including the ugly photog.

the government shld be fair to all albiet their status.be it a famous actress/actor or a normal poor guy like us..

this is slopped -sided man.
*nods head*

Now, get back to the real world.

If there's complete and absolute fairness, every single Mother's son of us would be dead 100 times over.

That's right. As it is now, the senior counsel (SC) have already written to the AG. The SC have inform the court that he just got the reply from the AG and ask for a 8 weeks adjourment to reply to the AG's office. That effectively means MediaCorp have at least another 8 weeks to wrap up the shooting in China before Christopher have to face the court.
If it had be just a guy on the streets, try asking for 8 weeks and the judge will most likely ask you to stay in jail for 8 weeks. :( That is the power of MONEY and STATUS.:(
