The coffeeshop is located in Ang Mo Kio St 61, right between a hawker centre and 7-11, it is diagonally opposite Yio Chu Kang CC. IIRC, it is call Coffee X-press 2000 or something the store doesn't belongs to the coffeeshop as in they are only a tenant.

There got BBQ fish meh? I live nearby and I eat around the area very often. If you want BBQ seafood, go to the stall in the hawker center. Very nice stingray, the chilli is very good.

Bad things share, good things must share also :_

To goondoo,

the moral of the story is never leave home without ur camera and lens!

Hi Wind30,
I stayed in the area for the past 25years, I know most if not every good makan corner in the area. I am upset because the store used to be quite good, better chilli than the one in the hawker centre definitely, I wonder what happen to them, probably change of head chef?

Anyway... I was advised that AVA does not handle such issues, NEA does :p

To hijack the thread abit. There is this restaurant in Vivo City called Agakashi.

A friend of mine went to eat there recently and my goodness it was bad...

Firstly the waitress was a middle aged lady that sounded more like a zhi char stall auntie. Every order my friend made was countered by a more expensive suggestion. Not that he gave in but it was damn irritating as she would not take no for an answer. Example "Can I have the salmon nabe?" Reply is "hiya why not you take the premium Tuna Set instead!!"

The classic came when his colleague ordered salmon sashimi and the waitress said "hiya why not take the 5 types of sashimi plate?? then all can share mah!"

Well the bill came and guess what? The 5 type sashimi plate is $120.00!!! Yes and the average price of dishes at the restaurant is 15 to 20 dollars. When he asked how come the Sashimi is so expensive (The menu listed the price as "Please refer to server") especially when it was not top grade fish just normal stuff like salmon, tuna(normal grade), yellowtail. The answer was "We give you the best mah!!" Well as a gauge, another classier establishment in Vivo City called Hanabi only charges 50 dollars for a 5 type sashimi plate.

Figures why the restaurant was half empty.....

maybe CS can add another session called "Blacklist Corner"

Don't ever eat sushi and sashimi in Australia and Japan, that is; if you want to continue eating it in Sg. There is no going back to eating sushi or sashimi in Sg after that. Nothing compares to the freshness of the seafood in both places.

I've never willingly eaten sushi or sashimi in Sg for sure. Even the supposedly "famous" sushi/sashimi buffet at a hotel in the CBD area was inedible in comparison. The fish was definitely not fresh, actually nothing was. Thank goodness I was invited and didn't have to pay for that crap. The bill came to $50 pp.

You may be right.
Ate recently in a Jap place run by local in Liang Seah St.
Same experience, expensive and no good.
Lady operator refused to change room even when the rest were empty.
The room given was cramped and surrounding fabric were smelly.
I won't be back there.

Recently went to basement of Isetan and bought the raw salmon from their in-store sushi takeaway counter; and it was cheaper and better than the restaurant mentioned above.

Most Sing restaurants worry about super high rentals and labour costs; they will skimp on real food value and try various tricks just to make the money to pay the silly outrageous high rentals.

Hmm really? What legal trouble?

that is in response to the suggestion by others that he act like a food magazine reporter. i'm saying that he will get into more complications trying to pull off as a food magazine reporter, i didn't say he is doing it now.

they do regularly checked on stalls ;) option has been opened, up to you to decide. you'll probably get into more legal problems trying to act like food magazine reporter

Hmm really? What legal trouble?

say someone fakes himself as a HDB officer wanting to check your flat, or someone fakes himself as a home deco magazine reporter wanting to enter your house to take pictures, what do you think?

I think your analogies are off the mark - there's a big difference between masquerading as a public servant (first case), and masquerading as a reporter to gain access (tresspass - second case), and eating bad seafood and informing the stall holder that he is going to do a review.

I draw your attention to the original suggestion again (please review once more): "You should say you from some local magazine review and will review the store accordingly."

Are you still maintaining your position that there ie going to be legal trouble?

i'm not going to argue with you. you are the kind of person looking for people to quarrel over legal issues.

i shall state my point. i mention he will 'probably get into more legal problems trying to act like food magazine reporter'

you want to argue, go ahead and do it yourself.

Besides taking pictures of the dishes, the TS didn't say anything about reviewing the store or things to that effect. That alone does not amount to impersonation as a public servant or magazine reporter, etc. All these suggestions were put forward by others in this thread. I am not legal expert but I am also of the same view that taking pictures of the food alone is not going to put him in any legal trouble.

My point exactly. Even if he were to say he is doing a review, that will not put him in any trouble either.

Unfortunately there are those who rely on semantics to try to backtrack from their initial position.

and it's not my problem if you cannot read properly. go ahead and choose what you want to read.

Yea right, I believe that discussion would show the weed from the chaff, and what types of off-the-cuff (mis)information is being thrown up.

If you see it as a quarrel/argument, then I suppose you are too entitled to your opinion. It will probably also mean that 100% of all exchange of viewpoints constitutes quarrelling here in Clubsnap and we are a quarrellsome bunch!

I thought you didn't want to "argue/quarrel"? If you wish to continue, I can dissect your post to show my point.
