The PT91 itself is based on modernizing the T-72 made in the 70s. The newer variant still is a little slower than Leopard 2A4, and is quite a fuel guzzler with range of 500km.

2A4 more than a match for PT91 anyday. Not to mention soon they shd be zhnged to A6 or maybe even better.:bsmilie:

55 tons should be no prob. Those long large containers already about 40 tons max without the trailer and prime mover.

During ndp 2000's mobile column I did, all tracked vehicles (including the mine clearing tank/monster from engineers. 60 ton I guess) travelled on the roads. It even splited into 3 columns; 1 go to north (Kathib camp), 1 to east (Selarang camp), and 1 to west (Jurong camp).

That massive bridge on many wheels thing from engineers; what u call that? Weigh a lot too. About 50 tons if i remember correctly. Those numbers printed in yellow circle in front is the max weight of the vehicle if i remember correctly. Hey, I'm a driver too! :bsmilie:

Looking at the rather ' O biang ' turret profile , I believe its only a matter of time before ST will " zhng " the turret to sloping type... Even our humble BX has sloping turrent.... can't be our " 1st " MBT is using that " o biang " turret right... :bsmilie:

and then German Leopard become Singapore Leopard..

actually they should get better submarines..

We are, although its still " pre-owned " , apparently the " zhnging" part is good.

1st sub purchase is for learning...

2nd sub purchase to practise,

and probably our 3rd sub purchase, new ?

the two large vehicles from the engineers (38SCE). the one with a dozer blade and short little cannon (which is actually 165mm demolition gun) is the M728 CEV. The one carrying the bridge is the AVLB, both are based on the M60 MBT chassis approximately 60 tons.

Anyway, true la.. our method good...

Getting new ones always have to pay a premium for it. And we got no palm oil to barter with others.

Getting pre-owned and then "zhng" it is an cost effective method.

i remember there was a movie " The Hunt for Red October "... maybe get that type.

Recent conflict in Lebanon has shown that the Merkava is now vulnerable to new Russian ATGM. Majority of the men killed were from tanks.

Even the Israeli shipborne protection system failed when the Israeli missile gunboat was hit by a Chinese silkworm that is half working.

I hope that we'll see the Leopard display during the Army Open House 2007.

The Leopards 2A4 are more then a match for the PT-91. Leopards can aim and fire when moving (stabilized gun and sight). The PT-91 has to stop, aim and then fire - a sitting duck. Prey for the Leopards.;)

Bo bian la. They didn't really upgrade the armour. There was an article sometime back dunno from ST or Newsweek. There was a new armour upgrade which was somehow not really implemented.

The turret's front is quite sloped. Well maybe not the sides though.
