high end camera phone vs nikon

hi,

just like to share something with all here.
one of the pics below is taken with a camera phone ($600) while the other is taken with a nikon DSLR with a trinity lens($5000).

camera phone has gotten to such a high standard that it is frightening....
comparing the price difference, it is indeed surprising that the pics quality are not that far apart.

if you dun cheat and look at the exif, can you really tell which is by which setup?

no peeping at the exif thru a program... that's cheating... hee hee
look at the pics and ask yourself: can i honestly tell which is which?

Nikon DSLR like to underexpose a bit.

Check out the edges, you should be able to tell the diff from a phone cam and a SLR

details in colour is the difference in the 2 pics and yes. at 100%, it'll show much better...

some guessed it correct and some guess it wrong...
the point is that the camera phone have advance to such a level that it is frightening...


we have super experts here who really know their stuff... ya.. must crop at 100% then can tell the difference....

many a times, i have wondered if spending so much money is all worth it or not....
true, DSLR will be good when it comes to super big prints... but how often do we print super big?

you can tell by the colours
the dslr is less contrasty and has more detail in highlight and shadow areas

I don't get my DSLR for resolution actually.

It is the tonality and DR which is to most impt to me. For other people, it is the AF, while others it is the thin DOF. Other people it is the better high ISO performance.

There are so many things that HP camera is still lacking lah. They are not even close....

actually...could tell my looking at the amount of detail on the trees and tt wire thing on that roof...but really.....on my laptop...i had a "great" time straining to tell the difference...

buten again..most people get dslrs for a myraid of reasons...one of which being image quality...shutter lag, startup time and focusing speed and accuracy, noise control etc is what will make the difference at the end of the day..

but the big camera companies would not want that to happen, and so most probably they wouldn't build such a PnS....

Yeah.. and resize it downwards to 1800x1200 to simulate 4R print resolution. Then we'll have some serious fun!!

I have good PnS, I also haave DSLR. They are different. There are many things you cannot get from a PnS which you can only get from a DSLR. There are also reason why there are people still into medium/large format.
