Which Canon DSLR and lens should an amateur pick? Please recommend!

20X this refers to the speed which the card can be read or written on. The base speed should be 150KB/s, so 20 x that speed... you do the calculations.

ey! then i think those who want to get, have to get it really soon cos it's going to be discontinued! as in nikon will stopped supplying them soon. so maybe these are the leftover inventories!

Probably not - warranties will last.

You did consider the E500 and pentax K100D too right? (sorry, haven't read ALL previous posts)

Have you tried taking a look at the buy and sell forum? I think it's swarming with 2nd hand D70s and 350Ds for a steal if you ask me. Why buy first hand when there are pretty good 2nd hand ones floating around? If you're scared to make a purchase just ask a more experienced photographer to go along with you to check out the camera.

it may seem that courts have the best offer, IF u are interested and have use for the freebies.

will u use the camera bag they give u? what about the tripod? the 40GB is a storage device that lets u transfer files from ur memory card to the device. useful if u go on long vacations often so u dun have to buy 10s of CF cards.

if u dun have use for them, just go for the cheapest offer

imho the kit lens lens is decent
in fact i'd grade it as really good at that pricepoint.

How long would a camera last? Esp digital one... 2 years, 3 years or more? What do you think? The lifespan should be about 5 yrs or more... and by then you probably would have moved on to even better cameras. So why worry about the lifespan of the camera?

As for the offers you listed, it's up to you to decide if the freebies are worth the money, but I would really suggest that you go for the shop you called up today. $30 for a bag? I believe you may go for other models anyway.... else if you want a bag straightaway, go for the Lords package.

You dun want a tripod which can collapse on you right and kill the camera even before you get to use it properly.
