Has anyone heard?

i really hope. EF 180mm Macro is my dream lens.

Tats wat I heard too....were at CP Marina yesterday while asking for Tamron 90mm when I was told Canon reduce some lenses price and were quoted 100mm Macro is now at $999.

$999? Some other shops selling less than that in case you are not aware and still hunting around.

I understand the 70-200s are lower. The 2.8 IS is around $2800+. Cannot confirm yet though.

It's time to BBB :D

Most of the lens like 70-200 F2.8 IS and non IS, has drop to a price similar to the grey set price. I think canon is trying to kill of the GREY market in Singapore. I think TCW will have some impact. 70-200 F2.8 is not $1900 only compare to $2350 1 month back.

Thought $999 is a pretty good price. Was with my friend when he enquired just now. It's $1020 at MS.

Kill grey market? then when grey is dead, bring the prices back up? Time to buy buy buy! :) haha

How about the current price of 28-300L? :)

Wow, got such a thing ah? So Canon Singapore must have been earning so much more if they can reduced prices by that much?

Has anyone considered how we've been suckers all these while when we bought lenses in Singapore brand new? I only realized how high prices of lenses and stuffs here were when I compared them to those overseas (US and HK).

For those that you know and confirmed, post in the Canon lens price sticky thread leh...

It is not a straight comparison.

Why are there price differences in countries, not just camera products but other products as well?

We have to take into consideration of the differences in standard of living, domestic market size, taxation, import duties / tariffs, etc.

Why US is cheaper, not just Canon products but other brands as well? It could be due to domestic market size (US, the biggest consumer market), stiff competition, etc.

HK is cheaper because they are fighting more fiercely with the grey market compared to Singapore. So far, only TCW is the only shop selling grey products officially.

On the other hand, in Indonesia, it is more expensive than Singapore. Hence, a lot of rich indonesians are buying electronic items in Singapore. Do they call their home retailers "suckers"?

Looking at cars. Everyone knows that we pay hell of money or much more than anyone else in the world. So? Does that stop you from owning a car despite the high price?
