Hi There,

The link below contains a comprehensive & fair review of the very fine telephoto 150F2 & a bit of the E1 (pros & cons). The reviewer used a stage performance & sports event to assess the abilities of both in the fields.

For the former, the panoramic stitching of stage performers comprising 6 frames is quite a feat ! As mentioned, relatively greater depth of field afforded by the 4/3 fast lenses is advantageous in the shooting situations above. The visual effects of high ISO noise is also discussed.

Insightful & comprehensive, help yourselves at :

 nice read! the author realli gives a good well balanced review.

After reading the review, I want one!

But after some thinking, I don't need one... :bsmilie:

Anyone knows how much is it?

i think around 35-100 price! we may see a small price drop soon though

About SGD 3670 in Singapore.
About SGD 3450 in USA, with rebate of course.
Nice piece of glass but at that price, I can get either a NIK(VR) or CAN(IS) 70-200 f2.8 + entry level body. Multi factor of 1.5(NIK) and 1.6(CAN) = 300 and 320mm respectively.

But then Oly 150 f/2 is much cheaper than NIK and Can 300mm. It really depends how you want to look at it.

Hi,

The lens is at the finest lineup of Olympus ZDs, of the few times I've got to try the lens, I'm left with a deep impression of amazing build quality, good heft for confidence & excellent balance when handheld. Its compact dimensions makes it discreet considering the reach the lens possesses. It's great for available light candid. In situations when your feet can do the zooming, this lens is attractive indeed.

As for me making a possible purchase ... what I have is delivering. I will need to shoot a great deal more to justify this lens.

Cheers,

ya, it really depends on how u look at it. for focal length vs focal length, its way far too expensive. FOV vs FOV, its a hell lot cheaper then an actual 300mm prime.

one thing for sure, this ZD150mm is untouchable in terms of image quality. u shud give it a try when u go for the Oly organised outing to BG. the after taste is just too EEEEEEVVVVVVVIIIIIIIILLLLLL.....!!!

When is the outing and where is BG? Botanical Gardens? I am interested. I tried the 150 f/2. It was sweet. Anyway, finally got a chance to go shoot with my E-500, every works fine but need some time to familiarize the functions after coming from the E-1. My E-1 is still at Oly Service Center for 2 weeks now.:{ The E-500 viewfinder is not as comfortable as the E-1. Gosh I had a hard time trying to figure out the subject was in focus the way I wanted. Anyone knows when the 1.2 X magnifier will be available?

Maybe you guys would be interested on the price comparison of NIK, CAN and OLY.

I think Olympus market this lens as an answers to competitors' 300 f2.8, in terms of size, weight, value and quality.

It's suppose to achieve the same result, I think in this case, better comparing to others' 300mm f2.8. It's also cheaper too!

cudn't agree with u more on this one. :)

however i still beg the question: why not the ZD 35-100mm? heavier & more expensive...

sorry folks, i must be whinning about this far too much. what to do? the 35-100 is such sweet range. if only its slightly lighter & slightly more exp than the 50-200... definitely will become the no.1 killer lens.
