and what do u mean by Torch Illumination ??

shine a torch at the object and take picture? what is the advantages?

Yes.. carry a good torch around (one that can do focusing, the energizer doble barrels are good)..

Uses:
- low light situations without using flash...
- allow using faster shutter speeds (the beetles were moving fast)
- control of direction as well as intensity of light.
- allows 'light painting' at slower shutter speeds

but torch emit yellow light...will it affect the shot?

Hi willy,

this set of zoo shots are a bit below your usual standards. The close-ups are nice, and my fav take is the butterfly pupae one. The other animal shots seem a bit soft, colour is not very natural, and there seems to be a tinge of motion blur too?

I prefer your earlier zoo shots.

Do you think I can survive with an optical 3x zoom(g2) if I go to the Zoo? Or will it be a wasted trip?
I also noticed that you copyrighted the photo to the year 2001.

excellent shots !!!

i got 1 similar shot on the cockroaches and did not use any torch light . I use my 420EX tilt and bounce to produce the effect ...

Ya... I used the torch to control the lighting to give it a more 'eerie' effect...

Arrgh!! ReCloned my computer and forgot to update the photoshop action!!

3x zoom is ok... you won't be able to get the animals far in the enclosure though... if you have the budget, get a B300 as well (1.7x)

Well... sometimes the yellow light is nice... otherwise you can eliminate the yellow light by changing the white balance..

Or you can correct it in photoshop..
