Anyone has experienced this lens before? Thinking of getting it for portrait shooting, any advise?

BUY BUY BUY!

It is a fantastic piece of glass for all kinds of shots.
 

does anybody have sample of portraits with this lens? wanna have a looks..:p

ya, I didn't regret of getting it early last year.
It can be good insect portraits lens too.

for close-up & portraits shooting only, EX25 is not required.
Unless you are interested in macro photography - shooting of insects like spiders etc.
The combination of EX25 and 50mm macro lens will give you an extended maximum image magnification; 0.98 times.
 

Oh noes, now I have to postpone buying the FL-50 flash and get this 50mm F2! :bigeyes:

ya, no need of flashlight with 50mm F2 lens
It's very a bright lens.

I still need a good external flash for indoor portraits and outdoor fill flashes. Artificial directional lighting can really change the mood or bring out the 3D details. The in-built 13GN flash is not good enough.
 

With the lens, you still can shoot without a flash. Without a lens, you can't shoot photos. This is shot with an F2 lens this morning.

u dun shoot wide open all the time though, especially for macro shots, you'll generally step down to get a deeper depth of field.
