On the technical/hardware aspect, probably the color accuracy, lower noise at high ISO and wide dynamic range on sensor can be further improved.

Quicker FPS, higher pixel counts but than again this has been the trends in digital photography since day 1 I guess.

If the works are good, why not? But than again it is always a grey area between pure photography vs photoshop enhancement.
