In your experience what objects are or close to middle grey when you are shooting landscape, beach, buildings or streets in Singapore?

I find the brown roof tiles and palm close to middle grey on a sunny day most of the time.

Read somewhere that most people's palms are a good enough approximate. And so far when I've used my palm for exposure, it's been not that off of my Sekonic lightmeter.

Read about this but I have never tried. I suppose this works when the subject is very close to the camera?

People's palm skin tones vary. What I did was to meter a known 18% grey reference, then meter my palm and note the difference. Unless one goes tanning often, the skin tones on the palm should not change much.
