Hello all,

I am curious as to what is the preferred pocketable p&s camera by you.

My F810 presently has troubles and I am thinking of getting a replacement for it.

I have looked at and played with the TZ3(Panasonic), the P3(Nikon) and recently the F40fd(Fuji).

Price is not an issue here within reason nor is zoom, though the 28mm of the TZ3 is ;p .

Olympus, Canon, and definately Kodak are our from what I have found.

What would you suggest and why if you wouldn't mind.

Cheers :)

ricoh gx-100 for the 24mm wide angle.

Hi zaren,

I am not familiar with ricoh cameras (we have never stocked them).

What are some of their strengths.... features etc.

Cheers :)

check out the ricoh gx-100 discussion threads here on CS. :)

either Panasonic or Fuji

reasons for my choice : good sensors and intelligent flash systems. ;)

Should get a Fujifilm. If it's bang for buck you want, check out the current Canon Powershot A series, still pretty good, if you ask me. But definitely different from DSLR. =)

How can you go wrong with Leica D-Lux 3? Not within your budget but the colours as natural as you can get.

Thank you so far....,

zaren (interesting about the ricoh) I am looking into it.

Godzilla Invades .... I would love to.

night86mare ... Fuji I like (F40fd) ... Canon I see MANY faulty ones come in 2 to 3 years old with same problem.

raincool2005 ... I agree with your reasons.

Please keep your thought coming friends... :)

Hrm. Maybe I don't touch my P&S enough. :bsmilie:

Idea: get a Vistaquest! =D

Hi night86mare,

I have not done a search yet on what a Vistaquest is .....

What is it :dunno:

As for the Canon issue I mentioned ...

I have one of the first IXUS cameras (about 6 years old) and it still works well (2mp)... yet,

I get MANY people that come in to replace their cameras say they have a Canon around 2 to 3 years old that died.

All with similar faults.

I am guessing the fault is due to the Digig 2 processor ( my one has Digig 1).

Oddly I dont' get the same thing with 2 to 3 year old DSLR's ....

Though they also use Digic2 processors; I guess they are a different variant of the chip.

Due to the numbers compared to other brands I sell, it has put me off (personally) Canon P&S.

Thank you for your replies. :)

It's a joke:

Tada! Really P&S, cannot even frame.

Hi gangeslim,

Ricoh seem to be quite popular.

Why do you suggest the GR ?

Does it stand out in any way compared to the GX-100

I am not familiar with either of them.

Do you have one and like it ?

Cheers :)

Why Fuji F40fd? That one is a dummy's PnS... no advanced manual features.
Get Fuji F31fd. Its inexpensive and full featured with great sensor and best low-light capabilities and intelligent flash and........ In short, I doubt u will regret it. Haven't yet heard of any complains abt it yet. Tons of happy users around. Check out the Fujifilm forum to hear what users have to say and view their photos.
