Xi has waken up eventually.

He now knows that he cannot ignore smaller and weaker states.

They do not have to go against you but they are not prepared to tolerate the nonsense.

Don't forget, they can stay behind a bigger force for protection.

All must work together.

Small nation like Singapore taught him about the anti-corruption drive.

Did Chinese leaders not once come and ask the great LKY for advice on how to proceed in the modern world? That speaks volumes about SG.

Not just once, bro. It's multiple times since Mao Zedong era.

Back in the 70s in Mao era, no other country give a hoot about China because they see it as a closed backward communist country with no hope. Singapore and LKY was one of the very few countries who flew to China and make diplomatic engagement with Mao and China. Since then, China has very deep respect for Singapore and LKY.

And in 70s, that is when LKY implemented that all local SG Chinese must learn Mandarin in schools for at least 12 years of education. He already has the vision that China will, one day, rise to be the big dragon economy (which he was so right about it, as we already see China becoming the biggest economy today).

Back in the early 90s, one of our local national universities already started to reach out to china market recruitment and admissions of Chinese people, way before any other international western institutions done in the similar way.

And these graduates of our university are already in high chinese government posts and top business men. Many of them are our alumni members.

It is long terms planning. We give scholarships to many top of cream all over the world as they are potential nation leaders.

They will remember Singapore and also their classmate.. simple terms "Net working for the future..."

We do not squander money.

Invest in the future.

It benefits Singapore.

Don't forget, they may stay in Singapore if they find it suitable!

Without our education system, we are not we are today!

2nd highest budget .... after defense. It is money well spent.

Please look far a head.

Your reasoning is simplistic ......

They may stay if they find Singapore suitable? Then what ?

Where is the conviction if all we want is anybody (you call creme of the crop) to become another one of us.....and all that talk about defense and what-have-you is nothing but a big farce .....it is money that could have been put to better use. Anyway if you choose to believe then by all means ........ :)

Don't make it sounds like a big sin

This is how the world and businesses works. We scratch each other's backs

I'm sure you are quite guilty of this doing too. When u need some help or advice, u will wan to meet people who can help you.

U will buy them simple coffee or small meal, or give Christmas or birthday gifts, hoping that they are will in turn help you in future. Even if it's just 80 cents coffee, you r still doing it.

If u say u never do such things, I don't know which planet u r living in.
