Description:
A very reluctant sale: This is the light grey version of the Nikkor 70-200mm F2.8 VR I. Selling due to commitment issues / under-utilization.

I bought this lens from a buddy 2 years ago, it was actually in perfect working condition.

But, I wasn't really happy with some very minimal user-marks, so I did a complete calibration + maintenance + exterior lens barrel and rubber grip change at the Nikon Service Center for close to $800 dollars in May 2012.
They had to ship the parts in from Japan, and it took 3 months to complete the servicing.
It was basically lovingly and completely restored to its original condition inside out. NO user-marks on the lens itself.

Then I shipped over a LensCoat cover from the US to protect it, and it was lightly used only for careful landscapes + a little bit of birding here and there. It wasn't even mounted on the tripod for more than 10 times.

To prevent the tripod plate from wearing off, I shipped over a Really Right Stuff tripod plate and tripod foot from the US, so that the original foot and tripod plate don't get scratched. (The original tripod foot had some user marks prior to purchase, so I covered them with a light grey paint marker, and it was not used thereafter.)

Optics are 10/10, extremely sharp wide open. VR is working perfectly, and lens mount is clean with minimal scratches. A original Nikon #77 NC filter was applied whenever the lens is not sent for servicing.

I am a extremely picky user when it comes to lenses, and I clean it obsessively before placing it in my dry cab maintained at 30-40% humidity to prevent the grease and rubber from drying out.
