Detailed Description:
The Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR is a very sharp and compact prime. Sharper then the 300/4 and much more compact then the a 400/2.8. Great balance when mounted on a D500. Attached a sample image, and check out my shots done with this lens at https://www.flickr.com/photos/darkalfie/albums/72157673750699548
Lens exterior has been well taken care of (Comes with a RolandPro wrap) and has normal user marks, so rated at 8/10. Gold plate still gold. Optics is 10/10 ! Lens has recently been 'upgraded' with new rear (original nikon NC) filter and a RRS arca swiss compatible foot !

Note: This is VR1 version.. the only difference from the VR2 is one generation of VR tech and lack of the M/A mode. Why pay $2k more for a VR2 version when VR1 works so well !
To quote Nikon: "The lens optics and Nano Crystal Coat so well received with previous lenses have been adopted without modification," meaning this is the same lens, with better VR and a new focus mode." (This from Mr Ken Rockwell.. lol)
