HIGHLIGHTS
Two exciting young graffiti artists, part of the Zincnite Crew, recent winners of Arternative!, a graffiti art competition at Skate Park. They will mesmerise you with works of art spray-painted on items that you bring to them and on walls and panels. If you thought aerosol art was nothing but big flashy words and scary, incomprehensible images come on down and be surprised.

A 30-minute dramedy by Alfian Sa’at specially written for W!LD@HEART titled “The Importance of Being Kaypoh” starring Selena Tan, Alin Mosbit and friends. The play will strike a chord with those of us who have had to live through our neighbour’s karaoke sessions or who have encountered litter thrown from the windows above. A light-hearted look at HDB high rise living, the play celebrates the art of living in close proximity.

A walk-through installation art piece that will test your senses and bring back memories. Constructed by full-time artists Ben Puah and Leo Ong, the piece will no doubt raise questions as to what installation art is all about. Are randomly arranged rocks, or flashing lights, installation art? Are we all artists then? Good question…

A Community Living Room. The nooks and corners of the void deck will be transformed into suggestions of various “living spaces”. As you saunter through the void deck, do not be surprised if you come across strange-looking “furniture” displaying your own words, thoughts, images and belongings. Rest a while on a cushion and get to know a neighbour

CONCEPT
W!LD@HEART was conceived to encourage as many people as possible to have fun with different forms of creative expression with as few barriers (physical and psychological) as possible. Art and the arts in museums, theatres and other formal spaces tend to intimidate and to discourage participation. With W!LD@HEART we attempt to present art in a friendly, non-threatening way and to remove any misconception that art can only be understood by the elite few. Participants are also given opportunity to contribute to the creative process in simple ways thus inculcating a sense of ownership and pride in the end product.

The void deck is the ideal space for an event of this nature. It is a common space shared by all in the block and takes on different personas for weddings, funerals and parties. Nowadays, you can find student care centres, senior citizen and study corners at the void deck. As the space is rediscovered, transformed over time or obliterated, we play tribute to the original idea for the void deck which was to provide a space for the community to meet and share their experiences
