Why is sigma 50 f2.8 five times the price as canon 50mm f1.8?

The 50mm f1.8 is made of plastic and feels quite cheap. I've heard it being described as a toy lens. :sweatsm: based on build, performance etc. Think it's quite clear why. :bsmilie:
