Consider the price differences, what makes Canon much preferrable?
3rd party doesn't always mean inferior to marque lens, especially the latest ones made for digital camera bodies. Most notably, the macro lenses produced by 3rd parties are exceptionally sharp. Take the legendary Tamron 90mm macro for example.
