Who still uses fil in the Digital era of 2008/2009

I know there are threads/polls on who still uses film. However, this threads/poll has been around since 2006 or earlier.
Hence I am starting a new thread to better reflect who are still using film in the digital era.
I would be great to share why one still loves shooting film or has finally ditch film for good.
Loves to hear also what camera are Csers using for their film shoot.
Last but not least, it would be interesting to see how the trends has change from the last few years... Has film looses further ground to the digital era or has they regain some of their lost gound. (when compared to older similar threads)

After seeing post 2, I'm surprised how crippled that poster is to change, and myself :embrass:
I still use pens, fountain pens to be precise, to write. I hate typing, I like inking.
But film, it was fun then, but digital has made me lazy to travel to my usual photo processing shop.. even though now I spend more time in front of the computer thinking what I can do with it and processing it. Ironic how film was shoot, sent to print and wait to enjoy. Digital handicaps me with all these choices and indecisiveness that I left with little time than before..

with digital..large amount of money is being tranferred over to Hong Kong when they announce gurantee to all bank depositors while our govt. says no.

no point arguing which is better, just like alternative photography and mainstream photography, anyway I'll still settle for toilet paper to wipe my butt.

In this digital age of photography now what you see in a picture may not be true.With
photoshop a picture could be manipulated but with film what you take is what you get.

Back in the days of film wedding photogs have no second chances but now with digital
any one with a DSLR can claim to be a wedding photog because they have alot of
chances if you know what I mean.But this is a new era of digital technology which
there is no denial.

I still love film beause it still gives me the adrenline of the end result.The composition,
exposure and the vivid colours.Yet it sets in to me that one day I will have to switch
to digital if I am still in photography.But until that day comes it will still be film for me.

at one time, I remember, Canon has got a gimmick called fair skin mode, or baby complexion something like that.

Eventually everyone turns out to be baby, father-in-law, mother-in-law, great grand father -in law, bosses,colleaques, indians, tamil, malays, all the same complexion.

But its good for SK II advertisement and the like of facial cosmetics ads, even Mark Lee will becomes baby, much smoother than his own baby I reckon.

i belive my short stint in shooting film ~7-10 rolls really helped me improve alot in a short amount of time

it just lets u take a step back and plan that shot so every shot count and not just machinegun

still ahve my eos5 iwth me and still shoot with it once in awhile if i feel i need to get back into that "zone"

This seems to be a point raised by several people. What I don't get is why this should be specific to film. You can take your time with an electronic camera just as well ...

Because you can't review the image after the shot and every shot cost $$$. But with digital, shoot first review later mindset is there and there is no extra cost in it.

FYI, the best (and most expensive, 500k iirc) audiophile hifi set in the world is used only to play vinyl records.

Oh yes, still use film negatives, now mainly Kodak UC100 and UC400. My systems are all dead so no digital body available for me. To switch system will be too expensive. To shoot film is more straight forward for me as I have no time for post-processing files.

Also I like the extra long battery life of film cameras, easily 6 months to 1 year

Shooting film had taught mi to plan n not anyhow shoot... It train my mind n body...Always had fun waiting for the negatives to develop.. For those did not shoot film before u should try it... Usual for mi 1 outing I cant even finish I roll... hehe

hmm...1st SLR i ever owned was a DSLR :sweat:

I've been "trying" for over a quarter of a century, and still don't get it. It would seem to me that if people start randomly snapping away with an electronic camera, thats not a problem of the technology, but one of the user?
