Would like to know if any one here drove an old model land rover or defender?

Share your views on owning one and troubles.

Whats the price of owning one?

Looks cool but very army-like since it was built for military use. Reservist still not enough..Haaaahaaa.

Pls share....

the spf uses them as assault vehicles for the specialist forces. they are newer models not from land rover.

Any private user? Lets not talk about the force.

There are a few land rovers groups in Singapore. Why don't you just google it?

I dun but I got a Ford SUV. The last time i enquired, a new defender (the smaller one) costs abt SGD70K with COE. It is diesel engine so needs to be registered as a goods vehicle. G plate. But its cool. Road tax is cheap but there is a Diesel tax.

For the old old vintage type. A lot of them are W plate and you need to convert to a G plate too. Costs about 15-40k depending on condition and residual COE.

Btw... i love Landrovers and also the boxy Merc SUV.

OT a little here, I love off-road driving. The vehicle is moving at 2km/h but the brain have to move at 350km/h :D

There is a black defender inside the hosing area off Upp Changi road ( to towards direction of Bedok Central ) . But it;s the new version. Very cool.

DT:)

NPNT!

Think i know which house you're referring to.

Around Siglap, towards Mandarin Gardens near Siglap court, there's 1 black as well.

Was having porridge at a coffeeshop when 1 stopped by - lady driver

Thanks for the tips. Since I am more interested in the used 4wd due to the costs factor, I am more concern about the maintenance part.

Is it cost efficient to drive one, esp old cars have quite a bit of a problem.

Will I be able to get one below 50K (with coe)? :dunno:

Def can get one for less then 50K with coe but its a matter of how many more years left in the COE.

Since its diesel, u can save a bit. However it will be G plate.

Well, as for the defender 110s, they can shake a lot when the engine is idling.

Overall they feel very light but not terribly responsive. Then again this could be because the ones I drove were abused by many people before.

The rear tailboard also looks rickety as it's held up by 2 pieces of metal fiber rope.
