i'm not too good with the white balance while using flash.

what white balance should i set when i am indoors, with fluoroscent lighting and using flash?

when i use flash, it beomes slightly bluish. i usually set to AWB but i'm not really satisfied cos it turns out quite orangey at times. i know how to use the preset white balances when i'm not using flash, but with flash, i need some help. :dunno:

i'm using a 30D with a 580 EX II and a stofen omnibounce.

many thanks. :)

u can try setting daylight setting. it works on nikon... and works for me at times... but most of the time i just leave it in auto... it handles quite well in oly system.

The other way is to do customised wb. Trial and error and see which one tickles u the most.

your white balance should set to the color balance of main light source.

so when you use flash as main light, set flash or custom balance to flash light, however, when there is a mixed light source, it will be very tricky to get the WB looks pleasing.

you could get a coloured gel for your flash to balance with the fluorescents..

There is no correct way as the lighting may differ in each areas...

Normally I use AWB and correct the RAW later, there is normally very little difference.
