Hi guys! i know this is a topic which many people often ask!
I am hoping someone can help me out a little!

I am currently using a 40d together with battery grip, 24-105F4L, 70-200F4L and occasionally a 300mm f2.8L. Besides the usual recommendations of Gitzo Tripods and the (very common) Manfrotto 190proxb... is there anything else worth a look at?? =)

I don't really need THAT much in a tripod! weight is not an issue! I am just looking for something solid and able to take the knocks which dosen't cost me a bomb! looking to upgrade from some "lao pok" tripod ;p

Thanks :D

Well..
Sturdy tripods are really important, so i guess you should widen your budget a little bit to invest on a good tripod.
you can try Slik Tripods which relatively cost less than manfrotto & Gitzo

ok thanks! =) any particular model to recommend?

well its not that I am not willing to spend on a good tripod, but just not ridiculous amounts! just wondering if anyone has any other recommendations besides the usual few models! =)

Tripod selection depends on weight of equipment (including ball head) mounted on tripod and the height of photographer behind the camera

haha honestly i have no idea how heavy my equipment weighs..
using a 40d with battery grip and a 70-200mm f4L/300mm f2.8L most of the time when i use my old tripod (which feels as thou its gonna give way any moment :dunno:

Weigh the 300 mm lens, body, grip, camera flash and all the camera batteries & flash batteries on a weighing scale to determine the weigh for your consideration of next tripod :)
