Hi,

Going for a holdiday soon, so like to get a prime len where I can use to take nice night landscape + night protrait as well?

I'm thinking of getting <20mm/f1.8 or a 50mm/f1.8 prime len...

Any advise...

Regards.

You defintely need a tripod for night landscape and external flash for night portraits. irregardless of type of lens.

For lens option, if you are on budget, 50mm f1.8 comes to mind. However, the 12-24 is actually good for both, provided you dun open wide when taking portraits.

Meaning at 12mm (for the 12-24mm lens).

if using DSLR 1.5 crop, 35mm
FF, 50mm

If u prefer wider
DSLR 1.5 crop, 28mm
FF 35mm.

Huh? I thought wide open usually refers to the largest aperture... Wide angle would mean the shorter focal length...
