G2 offers more functionalities and flexibility. S45 is smaller and more compact. You have to decide what is more important for you: functioality/flexibility vs size.
G2's price has gone down quite a bit since G3's arrival. If I'm not wrong it's around $1000 now, down from $1200 previously.
