1st dragonfly got better colors if i could say that.

how much is the 500D?
u use polarizer on the 1st or what huh?

1st pics is nice.. contrast is there.. :)

I see.... i think 2nd one better... the background brighter...

hmm let listen to more opinions...

1-st one no flash
2-nd one use 420EX flash

500D cost me $150.. now dunno how much.

does the last picture looks like I'm using flash?

Cheers

very nice .... i like 1st one than 2nd one ...

as for 2nd one , if you use fill flash , it should not affect the background ...

what's a 500d?

Canon Closeup lens 500D
Double-Element accessory attaches to the front of lens; changes closest focusing distance to 500mm (approx. 19.7") from front of lens.

I think first one is best.

Not sure....

according to breeze browser .. it said Subject distance: 0.496m

Not sure it's accurate or not.... i think around there also..

taken from Botanic garden... first pond...

How far away are you from the object? What's a fill flash?

My dragon fly macro is not that sharp, I am abt 1m away from it with max 10x zoom. Maybe is my shaky hands..

f/3.5
1/25sec

Join the Botanic garden outing...

we'll tell you all the secret! =)

Someone own same camera as yours...maybe he/she can help you.

In G2... i just use my macro mode.

Hope it helps.

u can touchup the 1st pic and make it like this

df_1%20copy.jpg

but usually I did not do mine .... :)

I prefer not to touched up my photo... unless the pic turns very lousy.

Anyway how you do the touched up?

Usually i just use auto-level, contrast or sharpen.

That's all.. :D

use the magic wand to select the insect and then do a curve adjust (Image > Adjust > Curve) to brighten it ...

one question here. Sometimes i feel that it is no point getting so near cos the insects will run away.. I prefer to shoot at a distance and have zoom. What do you all think?
