Which MP3 Player to get?

type of device. Want to listen to music, videos and
pictures that I took during my holidays.

Hmmm, seems you could do with an ipod touch or just get an iphone.

or, could try the Cowon S9, its getting alot of rave reviews :thumbsup:

Definitely Cowon S9 or the Sony X touchscreen player. Get if from Amazon if possible, much cheaper.

boss, i think ipod touch is the one you're looking for.
will take a while to get used to, but it's great after you get the hang of it.

If sound quality is not your main concern and you just want simple convenience, the iPod Touch is good.

If Sound quality is very important to you, avoid Apple.

After going through the various models suggested in
this thread I am surprised what some of the features
that are available in a modern MP3 player.

Here are some questions in my mind.

1. What is a MP4 player as compared to a MP3 player?
Why is there so few such players? Is MP3 player
more popular?

2. In the Cowon S9, what does it mean that it can act
as MSC or MTP on a MacBook or a Linux based
Acer Aspire One.

3. Does the Cowon S9 has a SD card slot?

Wi-fi is useful, but to me, a SD slot is more essential.

you can only get Clip+ online or from MO from HWZ or VRZone. Sandisk not bringing in MP3 players for the Singapore market anymore, officially anyways.

I'm using Sony's E series myself. A budget player with great SQ, that's what I think anyways. I'm also contemplating in getting a Clip+ as backup.

Yes. I'd easily put Apple behind Sony, iRiver, cowon, Creative and even Samsung in terms of sound quality.

You would need to buy a special adapter, but it's sloooooooow.

forward, I have not listened to any Apple devices before hence, I could not comment whether the X-Fi is better than it. But even the X-Fi has been refreshed to X-Fi 2 now.

i have not used it, but it seems like most people complain that the battery life is not as stated, so that's an issue you might want to take note of.

and of course, the x-fi is very much different from the real deal (i.e. the sound card thingy)

if you're into sound quality, which i have a limited idea about; my advice is, don't delve too much into it. only the audiophiles are going to care a lot about sound quality. it is like how most people not into photography will tell you that P&S pictures not much difference from DSLR pictures mar.. that said, getting a good pair of earphones/headphones will generally help a lot with that.

Apple players sound the best granted that you're willing to spend extra money on amps and quality phones.

I think the Sony/Sansa sound signature should appeal to most users. Sansa easily has the best SQ along with Cowon, just that they target different tastes.

That's because it's the amps doing the DAC. But sad that you need to boost them just to get to the level of the other brands.
