Hi,

Which prime lens would you recommend for portrait? I'm using a DX format DSLR.

1) 35mm or

2) 50mm

Thanks :)

Both also can!! I use 50mm for portrait n action. Is good n fast. Low light condition useful

Depends on which working distance is the most comfortable for you.

If purely for portraits and you have enough room to move about, 50mm is more suitable.

Otherwise 35mm is easier for tight places. I do prefer 35mm on DX.

hello ts, actually both also can be use for portraits

depend on your working space if its tight would be better to use 35mm

and enough got enough space 50mm is better as i find the af speed is fast

ok, thanks all for your advice.

I never think of using the kit lens to try it out. Thanks again, SkimMilk.

when i own DX, i had both the 35mm-G and 50mm-D ... i prefer the 35mm more but 50mm somehow give me nicer bokeh.
35mm is very comfortable for shooting indoors esp most of us living in shoe box now. its on my camera for 80% of the time.
50mm D lens can really AF very fast ... dun ask me why.

Thanks !

In term of $$$, 50mm is a better choice... more "value for $$$"...

I need a AF-S lens for auto focus, so looks like only 50mm f/1.8G suits my budget.

Anyone knows is this lens out already?

Thanks for your quick response, spree86 :)

I'd be happy with either....
