A friend is interested in buying a digital point & shoot (Not interested in SLR).

Budget is about $500, with at least 4Mp sensor.
Size is not important. Picture quality is more important.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks

I would prefer A70 personnaly.

casio exislim for the cool factor

Thanks all! The link given by megaweb is a good start.

Any other opinions/advice, anyone?

A85. :bsmilie:

Agree, with Canon A series u can't go wrong with a quality/function that rivals much more expensive brands.

Another vote for Canon here. I feel the 'out of the camera' quality is one of the best around.

Best advice would be to test out different cameras at the shop, get a feel, then decide. When I first got a digicam I wanted the Fuji, but got a Canon instead after getting a feel and comparing the pictures taken (they should have no problem letting you take as many comparison shots as you want because they can always delete it later :D ).

have the ixus 500, the shutter lag is ridiculous....... any cam with a resonable shutter lag ?

Gave my friend the link to Canon, and he seems to like the A95.

How is the shutter lag on this camera? Bearable?

You can test it at the camera shop.

A85 for a 4 mpix or A95 for a 5 mpix difference of price around $90 only..think carefully.

My friend got the A95 at IT show.

Thanks for all comments! :)
