Hi fren, recently i have been looking for a P&S cam too, therefore i recommend canon A95. However, it is only 5M pixel but cost only est $560. Otherwise, you may wanna look at Fujifilm E550 - 6.2 M pixel but using xD card. Quality wise this two cam is fantastic for P&S cam in my opinion. Cheers!

Hi fren,

I saw that thread before I posted this. I am having some reserve on getting the Fujifilm E550. The extraordinary storage media is pretty expensive I heard .... And my girlfriend is actually using an older model of Fujifilm and I am not very keen with the shots taken there .... Thanks for offering your advise anyway. Appreciate that.

Cheers!!

Hi, GA, I am using the Oly 5060 and it seems OK. Would recommend you the Olympus 7070 (if size is not an important consideration) as the 5060 is old already. This cam may be slightly above your budget, but I can tell you its worth it.

I am looking to buy a camera with some of the functions below:

Budget - Around SGD700 (not sure, about 900 in total)
Megapixel count - 6 and above (7.1)
Optical zoom factor - 3X and above (4x, 27-110)
Able to mount lenses/filters - Not necessary (can)
Manual controls required - Prefer to have (have)
Fast Auto-Focus Speed (5060 good, 7070 should be better by deduction)
Black & White mode (have, and sepia too!!)
Night scene mode (have, total 7 modes)
Macro (5cm or less) (3cm)
Movie clips (have)
Support storage option of up to 1GB or more (CF or xD)
Prefered storage media: CF

Other Features (which are good-to-have, for me at least):
1. Pictbridge (means can print from camera)
2. 4 modes: PSAM
3. Have AF assist lamp (good for night focusing)
4. Can attach external flash

Hope this helps...

Hi James,

Thanks for your recommendation. It is very detailed and useful. The Olympus 7070 seems to be a good compact camera. However, I feel that it is abit on the bulky side. Actually, I have a G6 now. Need to get this other camera for my dad as he feels that the G6 is way too bulky for him? :X Thanks again!! :)

Probably the cam you wanted is not in the market. Better wait abit longer then post your threads again at that time. :bsmilie:
