I'm looking to buy a compact camera that handles low-light pictures well, and hopefully of a thinner size compared to my old Nikon Coolpix. Does anyone have any good recommendations? Thanks!

I am tempted by Panasonic's DMC-FX500.

25mm~125mm with OIS,
AP, SP and manual exposure control
HD (1280x720) video capture
Closest macro at 28mm. (you can't get closer with longer zoom) Not a great macro performer plus quite heavy barrel distortion at the 28mm setting. :thumbsd: Otherwise it's a good overall performer with very useable high ISO.
