Where to replace the glass covering the screen of a MBP

Hi all. just want to know if there is anywhere where i can get them to replace the glass of my macbook pro, as the glass is cracked. i went to the apple service centre and asked if they could, but they still insisted on collecting 74.90 to run diagnostics. is that the normal practice? because i do not wish to pay 74.90 when all i want is for them to replace the glass. They will check for you, if anything else is damaged.

But I have been using it for the past 2 weeks with the cracked glass and it's fine... Is there a way to just get them to replace the glass?

changing the high definition tft/led LCD panel can cost you about $1k if you send to agent.

otherwise you can go to simlim square computer fix it shops and shop for a good one. but mind you, you may save $600, but the color is not accurate.

your best bet, let apple replace the correct screen for you. well unless, you are not into photography for photo color editing.

i dont they need to change the lcd.. its just the glass panel covering the lcd which is cracked.. the lcd seems fine to me.

Call apple, request to speak to a product specialist.

Then talk to the man over the phone and explain your situation. They'd come up with an solution for you. Don't go to the service center without logging a case through apple, else they will ask to run diagnostics on your system first. Apple does not have it's own service center. They have hired 3 service centers to do servicing for them. Companies like Sapura are part of the list.

Thus call up apple service center (HQ), log a case in. Tell them what you know and feel and they will give you a good answer. Tel No. 68351812 (This number gets you to speak to a customer service agent faster)

which Apple Service Center (ASC) you went to? Long time ago, when I send my iMac to the ASC at Performance Center (at Alexandra. not sure if its there anymore as BMW had moved out), you only need to pay the diagnostic charge if you decided not to proceed with the repairs. like some mentioned, try calling the Apple Service Helpdesk first?
