I recently attended a short course and most of the trainees own Nikon or Canon.

The instructor was familair with Nikon & Canon and even talked about their features with the trainees. When my turn came to annouced my Pentax K20D, unfortunately I am the only one, the instructor "oh Pentax" and no further comment.

For Pentax user attending courses which the instructor not familiar with this brand, at some point, we can't discuss further about the camera's functions except ISO, f-Stop & Speed.

I wonder if there are any short courses that are tailored for Pentax.

No matter which camera to use, the way to take a good (and bad) photo is the same. But I agree, if you know more about your camera, the chance of taking a good photo is higher. The best way to know your camera is to:

1. read the manual
2. use it more often
3. practice
4. raise your Qs here at the forum

Good luck and happy shooting :)

Hi,

Thanks for posting your advice.

I am still having my ist*D and decided to buy K20D. I downloaded the K20D manual and printed in A4 for easy reading.

Will post if have doubts.

Thanks... Nice photos...
I just checked my plan, looks like I will be there on Labor Day! :D
Will try to upload mine soon after I get back.
(Got a huge backlog: Still stuck at day 3 of my 11 days Japan trip last year.)
Also planning to bracket a couple of shots there to try my hand at HDR-ing... :D

I came across the Pentax website and there are 2 tutorials about flash. Perhaps can take a look and listen about it. :)
