i DO remember donkey years ago i saw this knife in singapore, as my then classmate had one when he brought it for camping.

anyone has any idea where i could get knives for collection purposes?
and yes, i've tried caesars but to no avail.

and if i do ebay it, will it pass the customs?

As what previous poster said, Sheares Tech at Selegie road. walking distance from SLS.
I bought my knife from there though :)

You can buy it online from overseas but you'll need to come down to the Singapore Police Explosive branch at Cantonment to get the permit.

HTH.

oohh... 110th anniversary USMC Ka-Bar. very nice. Ka-Bar make a number of commemorative knives in both fixed and folding variety. personally, i would much prefer the standard knife so that i wouldn't mind using it camping.

i wonder if Sngarms still exists.

i got a number of my knives from ebay. a couple of them went through aussie customs and were opened for inspection (they put a label once they've opened it to let you know), but no problems so far. once the seller (from the US) put "camping equipment" in the description of the item, which was true in a sense, and the package went through without inspection.

thanks guys for the replies.

my friend told me he bought surefire torches from there and they aint exactly very friendly.:what:

btw,

are you guys assuming since they sell tactical gears(according to their website) that they have the ka-bar

or

you are darn sure they sell it cos either you bought one yourself or you have seen it in the shops?

pardon me for being frank.i do not want to make a wasted trip.

was wondering if it is illegal to just order the sheath in?
anyone knows?

cos my brother has one but his sheath has been degraded by fungus.
appreciate all replies.

sheath should be ok. but watch out for the handle too as it will also be degraded by fungus over time

i had one when i was in the army, a major gave me a kabar knife (that incidentally was a gift from a visiting us-marine years ago). handle was totally crumbled so what i did was just to wind thick wire around the handle until it was thick enough for gripping, and then epoxy it.. superb, made the knife feel more balance.. but wasnt much use for it except using it to slice fruits and open durians outfield :bsmilie:

the other option is to get a kydex sheath. (it's a plastic type sheath so it won't rust or degrade. but obviously does not look as good as a leather one.)

like all leather goods that aren't in constant use, it'll need frequent care, e.g. cleaning, oiling, etc. to keep it in top condition.

newer kabars now come with rubber type grips instead of the traditional pressed leather rings. they're grippier and softer on the hands.
