whatever you do, buy original

but why do you need an extra battery?
If you have access to electricity every night, your 1 battery should be enough

better to have spare lah.. u never know when u will forget to charge the main batt :bsmilie:

i've never been to europe before, and TS never say where, but he might want a spare if it gets cold. to alternate between a cosy place and his camera

If u have a grip, buy AA (standby incase your org batt is flat)

If u don't mind those "chiong" batt, the price 65 can actually buy 2 or 3.

Try phottix batteries on Ebay. nearly $10. Reliable if you ask me.

third party batteries have served me well for over 1 year plus..

Brands I am using are megapower -> can get from cathay at $25

Phottix -> You can check mass sales or can order from EBAY..

I have been using this batteries for my 300D, 400D, 30D ...

Served me well..

thanks everyone.

I decided to go for original. :D

I tot going for third party ones will void the warrenty? correct me if i am wrong.

By the way, how much is a D80 grip roughly? orginal and real ones?

besides giving better grip and longer battery life span, is there any other functions for a battery grip? For the AA batteries, is the grip able to contain both AA and normal batt?

why do you say to buy original? can an original really outlast the compatible 3-4x comparing the price?

Yes Does Nikon make batteries? Does Canon make batteries?

They outsource..

Seriously 3 party batteries have their own standard and QC depends on the brands..

I've been using them never failed me but I only get "reputable" OEMS..

Its still power just like you buy Energizer or Duracells which are premiums buttt Now GP is selling Alkalines that are good and cost way lower than them..

Why do you guys like to risk a thousand dollar investment by using 3rd party items which can be risky??

For a couple of tens more, I'd get a battery which would last well, offer me a ease of mind that I can go back to the makers if there were any issues.

Who can you go to if YOUR 3rd party battery leaks or worse explodes inside your camera while in use??

You're not going to be able to claim any warranty due to the fine print in the camera user manual....

think about it....

If I remember correctly most third-party batteries offer a higher capacity than original batteries... But the life span is shorter...

It's false advertising... more often just to attract...
